The Commandment Of Love #2
The commandment of love
Church folks will tell you with the quickness how much they love God, but if you ask them what about your neighbor it's a different story, in TX. they say that dog won't hunt. Jesus said in:
(Mk:12,29-31)
- v-29 The first of all the commandments is, Hear O Israel the Lord our God is one Lord.
- v-30 Thou shall love the Lord thy God with all the heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength: this is the first commandment.
- v-31 And the second is like namely this, Thou shall love thy neighbor as thyself . There is none other commandment greater than these
This is nothing new, Jesus was confirming what was spoken to Israel after they came out of Egypt.
Lev:19,16-19 The commandments are the stander the Lord set for all man kind to live by
Rom:13,8-9 He said it again
- v-8 Owe no man anything, but to love one another: for he that loveth another hath fulfilled the law.
- v-9 For this thou shall not commit adultery, Thou shall not kill, Thou shall not steal, Thou shall not bear false witness, Thou shall not covet, and if there be any other commandment, it is briefly comprehended in this saying, namely, Thou shall love thy neighbor as thy self.
- v-10 Love worketh no ill to his neighbor: therefore love is the fulfilling of the law.
Notice Paul went right to the Ten Commandments; you can't go around them, they are spiritual they are forever. Ps:111,7-10.
Rom:7-12 Wherefore the law is holy and the commandment holy, and just, and good
v-14 For we know that the law is spiritual: but I am carnal sold under sin.
.
Through out the old and new testament the Lord remind us of the importance of keeping his commandments.
Deut:4,7-8, 13
- v-6 Keep therefore and do them; for this is your wisdom and your understanding in the sight of the nations, which shall hear all these ststues, and say, Surely this great nation is a wise and understanding people.
- v-7 For what nation is there so great ,who hath God so nigh unto them, as the Lord our God is in all things that we call upon him for?
- v-8 And what nation is there so great, that hath statues and judgements so righteous as all this law, which I set before you this day.
- v-13 And he declared unto you his covenant, which he commanded you to perform even ten commandments; and he wrote them upon two tables of stones,
All over the book the Lord hath declared his Ten Commandments. Let us be wise as a serpent and harmless as a dove, proving all things, holding fast to that which is good. 1Thess:5-21.
Ecc:12-13 Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter; fear God and keep his commandments; for this is the whole duty of man.
