The Commandment of Love #1
The Commandment To Love #1
{Jn:13-34} Jesus gave the commandment to love one another as I have loved you, that ye also love one another. By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another.
He was very definitive to his disciples when he made that command. New testament Christians don't keep the law because they say we are under the new commandment to love one another as Jesus loved us.
When Jesus gave that commandment to love, he didn't do away with keeping the Ten Commandments. How do I know this? In {Jn:14-15} he says if you love me keep my commandments.
For you to have the ability to love one another, God's love must be in you: for God is love. His word must abide in you and through his word we can love our neighbor as Jesus loved us. Jesus acted on the word of the Father that was in him.
Here is an example of the Ten Commandments yet in force in the New Covenant.
{Matt:19,16-19}- 16 And, behold, one came and said unto him, Good Master, what good thing shall I do, that I may have eternal life?
- 17 And he said unto him, Why callest thou me good? there is none good but one, that is, God: but if thou wilt enter into life, keep the commandments.
- 18 He saith unto him, Which? Jesus said, Thou shalt do no murder, Thou shalt not commit adultery, Thou shalt not steal, Thou shalt not bear false witness,
- 19 Honour thy father and thy mother: and, Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself.
Back to {Jn:14,23-24}
- 23 Jesus answered and said unto him, If a man love me, he will keep my words: and my Father will love him, and we will come unto him, and make our abode with him.
- 24 He that loveth me not keepeth not my sayings: and the word which ye hear is not mine, but the Father's which sent me.
{Deut:4,5-6} - 5 Behold, I have taught you statutes and judgments, even as the Lord my God commanded me, that ye should do so in the land whither ye go to possess it.
- 6 Keep therefore and do them; for this is your wisdom and your understanding in the sight of the nations, which shall hear all these statutes, and say, Surely this great nation is a wise and understanding people.
{Ps:111,7-10}
- 7 The works of his hands are verity and judgment; all his commandments are sure.
- 8 They stand fast for ever and ever, and are done in truth and uprightness.
- 9 He sent redemption unto his people: he hath commanded his covenant for ever: holy and reverend is his name.
- 10 The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom: a good understanding have all they that do his commandments: his praise endureth for ever.
1Jn:2,3-5
- 3 And hereby we do know that we know him, if we keep his commandments.
- 4 He that saith, I know him, and keepeth not his commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him.
- 5 But whoso keepeth his word, in him verily is the love of God perfected: hereby know we that we are in him.
{Ps:19-7}
The law of the Lord is perfect, converting the soul: the testimony of the Lord is sure, making wise the simple.
Hearing and receiving of the law is what convert you. What law? the Ten Commandments they are forever, they show you your sin. Without the law there would be no legal document to judge man of his sin. The animal sacrifice was the law done away with at the death of Jesus, it was added because of transgression. {Matt:27-51}The problem with most New Testament preachers is they don't know the bible definition of sin. Well here it is:
{1Jn:3-4} Whosoever committeth sin transgresseth also the law: for sin is the transgression of the law. So tell me how can you do away with the law, where there is no law there is no sin. Do people still sin; sure they do that's why the law is still in force to show man he need to repent.
{Ron:5-13} (For until the law sin was in the world: but sin is not imputed when there is no law.
Rom:13,8-10
- 8 Owe no man any thing, but to love one another: for he that loveth another hath fulfilled the law.
- 9 For this, Thou shalt not commit adultery, Thou shalt not kill, Thou shalt not steal, Thou shalt not bear false witness, Thou shalt not covet; and if there be any other commandment, it is briefly comprehended in this saying, namely, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.
- 10 Love worketh no ill to his neighbour: therefore love is the fulfilling of the law.
{1Jn:5-3} For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments: and his commandments are not grievous.
No body is going to heaven, forget it, the Father is bringing heaven to earth. But if you expect to get in the Kingdom of Heaven the Father's Kingdom, you must keep the Commandments. This show God that you are humble and submitted to Him.
{Rev:22-14} Blessed are they that do his commandments, that they may have right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates into the city.
{Ecc:12-13} Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man.
